The Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) announced today (March 5) that there has been another positive COVID-19 case found in an individual from Harry Balfour School (HBS).

This case is in addition to the two single cases reported in February, who attended the school on Feb. 4 and 19.

The person was last at school on Wednesday, Feb. 24. All HBS families and staff received the information today. Close contacts will need to isolate until Thursday, March 11. At home learning is available to isolating students.

With the school currently categorized as ‘on alert’, any close contacts who develop symptoms and need to book a COVID-19 test should quote reference number “2021-EI-2063” when booking a test online or by calling 811.

The school is still open for in-person learning, and necessary measures are being taken to prevent spread to staff and students. Disinfection of the school has taken place. Anyone who is not a close contact will still be able to come back to school on Monday, March 8.

To respect their privacy, the person’s name won’t be released.
