Kim Cairns, President of Peace River Bible Institute (PRBI), came by the studios and gave us an update on some of the happenings at the college.

He shares, "We’ve passed our eighty-fifth year, and our president of twelve years and a faculty for twenty-nine years, Waldie Neufeld retired in April, and the board appointed me President at the end of August, this fall. So I just stepped in, working with the leadership team there and our plan is to put in place a strategic plan for our future. So we’re really got full plates, but we’re looking forward to it.”

"This is going on my eleventh year, I started as a faculty, and then I was the Academic Dean for eight years of my ten that I’ve completed, and so I have a good handle on the school I think, but it’s big shoes to fill."

This September, the school held it's twenty-fifth annual Water Balloon Mania. This event has adapted over the years, but has always been an incredibly fun event for youth in the area.

"We had over seven hundred on campus that night, we a beautiful night, just a great concert as well as all the water fun and, yeah it turned out to be a really great event for our twenty-fifth anniversary."

This year, they had a huge water balloon fight, a foam Slip-N-Slide, the best Grande Prairie Food Trucks, a concession, DJ’s on the mic, and an outdoor concert by Manic Drive.

PRBI has a few other events coming up this year.

Next month, inpartnership with GPCityWide, they're hosting their third annual Christmas Social. On December seventh, youth grades seven to twelve can come for "hilarious top-notch entertainment, food for every sweet tooth, prizes, and a meaningful message."

The Circle of Friends banquet is an event the college puts on each year:

"Our Circle of Friends, it’s an event where we reach out to all of our constituents and alumni. It’s on February seventh. We encourage all of them to come and join us on that evening, showcase our students and an opportunity for us to say thank you for all your support," Kim shares.

For youth and prospective students, there's an exciting event coming up in March.

"Our eView runs in March and we’ll be inviting prospective students from all over the North Country here, from Peace Area, and even Southern Alberta come up and join us for a couple days of classes and fun."

PRBI and Bear Lake Bible Camp are partner together to present eView: Sr. High Takeover & BLBC Winter Retreat, "a weekend that is going to inspire, encourage, and build up your youth, showcase Bible college, and expand the experiences of Jesus for your entire youth ministry"
