Grande Prairie MLA and Minister of Municipal Affairs Tracy Allard talked with us about some of the concerns that have been floating around lately, including COVID-19 in schools, Highway 40 project and the new GP Hospital.

Allard praised local families and teachers for their work in getting kids back to school.

“I'm so proud of our school boards and so proud of our ministry and I want to say thank you to the teachers and the parents for working together to get us through this challenging time for Albertans.”

On the topic of the Highway 40 project, Allard says she is glad to see the twinning of Highway 40, and although she has no update yet, she's hoping to make an announcement very soon.

As for the new Grande Prairie hospital, there is no specific date yet of the grand opening, but she is very excited to cut the ribbon, and says Grande Prairie has been very patient with the opening.

The new Grande Prairie Composite High school, has been another highlight that she is very proud about.

“I think it's going well; I was there when they had made the announcement and what I loved about that announcement was having student leadership.  I'm super passionate about youth advocacy and I think leaders. Strong leaders should raise up other leaders. I think that's what leadership is about. And I love seeing those young leaders who are tomorrow's  MLA's and prime ministers. I love seeing them be part of that announcement, and part of the planning for the school.”
