Whispering Ridge Community School (WRCS) kindergarten and grade one classes will be able to resume in-person learning this week, in a new location.

WRCS had a fire on April 11, which was contained to the Grade 1 and playschool modular classrooms and caused a move to at-home learning for all students while clean-up happens.

Grande Prairie Alliance Church (GPAC) is taking in the kindergarten and grade one students this week, as well as the County playschool, which normally operates out of WRCS. GPAC is only a few blocks from the school.

In a post on Facebook, school administration says, “We are so grateful to the church for graciously welcoming us to use their beautiful space.”

School administration is hoping they will be able to regain access to parts of the school in the near future. In the meantime, online learning continues for students grades 2 to 8. WRCS was able to get their Chromebooks prioritized by the restoration company working on the school, and these were handed out to families late last week.
