For Alexandra Boylan, acting was her happy place. Whether it was in a high school musical or a play in her father's church, she knew that she wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

At the age of 14, Boylan began auditioning for roles in various productions.

"My parents really nurtured that love of arts in me and told me to go for it," Boylan explains.

When she was 19-years old, Alexandra moved from Boston to Los Angeles all alone. After a year, she became homeless and lived out of her car for about a month while pursuing acting.

"I spent 10 years trying and failing," Boylan says."It was tough."

After ten years of tough times, she surrendered her life to Jesus and moved to New Mexico believing her career was over, but it's there that her career began to take off.

After she felt the Lord calling her to make faith films, she lived on the road for a year and put all her finances into making the film “Catching Faith.”  She learned to not hesitate when you are called by God and that God always provides.

"God has really blessed my life ever since I started going with His will instead of my own," says Boylan.

Alexandra and her sister Andrea Polnaszek, are co-founders of Mustard Seed Entertainment. Their newest film is SWITCHED, which stars John Schneider and Denise Richards.

SWITCHED focuses on a bullied teen girl who prays her high-school bully would know what it is like to walk in her shoes. Her prayer is answered unexpectedly – the film is similar to “Freaky Friday” and for all ages. The film shows the impact of bullying and how kindness can spread further and build people up.

Today on Connections, Alexandra shares her amazing journey into the film industry and how faith helped guide her. She will also chat a bit about her latest film, SWITCHED.
