Alberta had the most new cases of COVID-19 of any province in Canada yesterday (August 21).

The 144 additional cases were more than even Ontario's 131 new cases, which included some that weren't reported on Thursday because of missing data from 11 public health units in that province.

Quebec had 93 new cases with B.C. reporting 90.

The new cases bring the provincial total to 1,144 active cases, up 60 from Thursday's numbers. 11,374 Albertans have recovered from the illness.

Two more deaths were recorded in the province, including one in Grande Prairie, bringing the number of Albertans who have passed away to 230.   43 people remain in hospital with nine in the ICU.

The City of Grande Prairie also saw eight new cases of the virus and one person recovered, bringing the active total to 24 and recoveries to 42.  In the County, two new cases were identified for 15 active and 23 recoveries.

The MD of Greenview has a new case, the only one active, with seven recoveries and one death.

Three additional cases were found in Mackenzie County and five people recovered. Totals sit at 39 active, 192 recoveries, and eight deaths.
