The Public Health Agency of Canada are investigating 10 lab-confirmed cases of Hepatitis A in Alberta and Saskatchewan involving strawberries.

They are advising against eating any strawberries that may have been frozen for future enjoyment.

The 10 lab-confirmed were found in individuals between the ages of 10 and 75, four of them required hospitalization.

The federal public health body is warning anybody that bought strawberries from a CO-OP between March 5 and March 9 to throw them out.  

According to the PHAC, a vaccination can prevent a hepatitis A infection if received within 14 days of exposure. if you’ve been exposed to the strawberries or have symptoms consistent with a hepatitis A infection like fatigue, dark urine, fever, loss of appetite, vomiting, abdominal pain, nausea and jaundice seek health care as soon as possible.
