It was announced today that Alberta Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Services and the Alberta Sheriffs will be integrating together and will be called Alberta Sheriffs – Conservation Services.

In a Facebook post by both organizations, they said there won’t be any change for Albertans.

“Under the new banner of Alberta Sheriffs – Conservation Services, these officers will maintain the same mandate and perform the same primary functions to: help conserve and protect the province’s natural resources by ensuring everyone understands and complies with wildlife and fisheries legislation, ensure the public’s safety and protection of property in regards to wildlife.”

Albertans will still be able to contact their local Fish and Wildlife offices, and report suspicious or illegal activity. This can be done through the 24-hour Report A Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800 or online at alberta.ca/report-poacher

The services share that the integration will reduce administration costs and coordinate command.

“Fish and wildlife officers have always had strong working relationships with Alberta’s sheriffs with the same goal of keeping everyone safe.”
