A new partnership will help farmers support local food banks across Saskatchewan and Western Canada.

AGT Foods is working with Food Banks Canada and Drive Away Hunger.

President and CEO Murad Al Katib launched the AGT Food Bank Crop Exchange Program this morning in Regina.

He says through the program  producers can donate a portion of their crop delivery at their local AGT Foods location, to support local food banks across Saskatchewan and Western Canada.

Producers simply commit to an amount and "Round Down" their delivery .

For example .. if they deliver 40 metric tonnes to AGT Foods and donate 1 Metric tonne,  they'll receive a taxable receipt for their 1 Metric tonne donation -  at fair market value -  and  payment for the 39 metric tonne delivery.

Local and provincial food banks will get a dollar-for-dollar food credit with AGT Foods towards pasta, rice, pulses and staple foods.

AGT Foods has facilities throughout Saskatchewan, as well as a location in St Joseph, Manitoba and Gibbons, Alberta.
