In Alberta today (Dec. 4), 1,828 new cases of COVID-19 were reported from about 17,200 tests bringing our provincial positivity rate up to 10.5%. 

Currently, 533 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, with 99 of these in intensive care. This is an increase of 22 from yesterday and two new ICU admissions. In the North Zone, 26 are hospitalized compared to 23 yesterday, with ICU admissions holding steady at two. 

Fifteen more Albertans have died, for a total of 590 since the start of the pandemic. 

There are now 18,243 active cases in the province. Today there were 1,313 recoveries reported for a total of 46,018. 

In Grande Prairie, active cases held steady at 82, with five new cases reported and five people recovering. There’s been a total of 427 recoveries. The County of Grande Prairie added four new cases today and had eight people recovery. Recoveries are up to 162 with 16 active cases. 

Eight people recovered in the MD of Greenview. The MD of Peace added four new cases and had nine recoveries. MD of Spirit River, Big Lakes County and MD of Smoky River each had one recovery; Smoky also had on new case. MD of Lesser Slave River also had one new case, but three recoveries. Northern Sunrise County saw five new cases and one recovery.
