In the City of Grande Prairie, 109 new COVID-19 cases were over the long weekend, and 55 people recovered. The active total is 358 with 1890 recoveries.

In the County of Grande Prairie, 56 new cases were added, and 22 people recovered. There’s now 151 active cases and 562 recoveries.

Peace Region totals:

Provincially, Alberta has reported 3,987 new cases over the long weekend from over 45,600 tests completed. There were 1,081 new cases on April 1, 1,071 on April 2, 948 on April 3 and 887 on April 4.

Right now, 10,582 cases are active in the province. With 2,065 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 140,614.

There’s 312 people in the hospital with the virus, with 76 of these in intensive care. This is 20 more hospitalizations than reported before the long weekend, and 17 more ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 32 people in the hospital with five of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported four more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 1,998 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the weekend, 1,933 more cases of variants of concern were found for a total of 6,310. Of the active cases, 39.2 per cent are variant cases. In the North Zone 488 variant cases are active and 53 have recovered.

There have now been 707,482 vaccine doses administered, with 116,198 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
