Alberta has added 582 new cases of COVID-19 today (Feb. 4), from just over 11,512 tests completed, for a positivity rate of about 3.6%.  

There was a technical error yesterday that resulted in some tests and new cases being missed in the reported numbers. Those who tested positive were still notified. Some of the cases reported today are those that were missed. There have been 421 cases identified in last 24 hours. 

Right now, 6,588 cases are active in the province. With 580 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 117,400. 

There’s 517 people in the hospital with the virus, with 93 of these in intensive care. This is 22 fewer hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and one fewer ICU admission. In the North Zone, there’s 59 people in the hospital with eight of these admitted to intensive care. 

Alberta has reported 13 more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 1,684 since the start of the pandemic.  

There are now a total of 68 variants that have been found in the province. Of the 11 new, all the U.K. variant, seven currently have no known link to travel and are being investigated. 

There have now been 112,388 vaccine doses administered. More than 21,700 people have received both doses and are fully immunized. 

In the City of Grande Prairie, 15 new cases were added, and 15 people recovered. The active total is 136 with 1059 recoveries. 

In the County of Grande Prairie, five new cases were added today, and three people recovered. There’s now 43 active cases and 318 recoveries.
