At what may have been one of the most heartbreaking moments in a set of athlete's lives, their coach and teammates surrounded them in prayer.

The Virginia Tech Hokies were knocked out of the NCAA basketball tournament in a heartbreaking 75-73 defeat by Duke University. It was just the second time the team had made it to the Sweet 16 round in the March Madness tournament.

"God I pray that you would fill these guys with the right kind of humility, and the right kind of love. That it's not selfish, that it's not for them. But that they would know through all that they've been through here that the best kind of leadership is servant leadership."

The Hokies' coach, Buzz Williams, gathered the team in the locker room after the loss and laid hands on the team's three outgoing seniors.

"God you say in the Bible that when we don't know what to say, that you understand our heart and you know the grumblings in our mouth," Williams said as he opened in prayer.

Williams prayed for an anointing over player Justin Robinson as he matures and takes on new leadership roles.

And he prayed over Ahmed Hill, who missed a shot as time expired that would have taken the team to overtime. "I pray that as he becomes a husband, that the examples that he's seen since he's been here will break the cycle in his life. I pray that as he becomes a father that the examples that he's seen here will break the cycles in his life. I pray that as he becomes a leader, that as he becomes a CEO of a Fortune 500 company that he would continue to dispel every potential possible stereotype that's been labelled to him."

Williams closed his prayer by thanking God for the three men, and that they were all able to take the last three shots in the team's season, before praying that they would become servant leaders.

"God I pray that you would fill these guys with the right kind of humility, and the right kind of love. That it's not selfish, that it's not for them. But that they would know through all that they've been through here that the best kind of leadership is servant leadership."

Williams is also leaving the Hokies after he accepted an offer from Texas A&M to coach the Aggies in the upcoming season.
