In the last 24 hours, 138 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Alberta, bringing our total to 1870.

Most of these are in the Calgary Zone. Testing has been increased in this area over the last several days. Dr Hinshaw expects that later this week we will see the results of the increased testing.

The North Zone has had a total of 107 confirmed cases and 6 deaths. There are no new reported cases in the Grande Prairie area.

There are 914 recoveries in the province, 37 new since yesterday.

“While we are seeing a steady rise in recovered cases in the province, we should also expect to see a rise of cases in the coming days as a result of expanded testing,” says Dr. Hinshaw.

AHS recently expanded testing to include anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

There are two new deaths, including the 21st at the Mackenzie Town Continuing Care Facility. The other was at Shepherd’s Care Kensington Facility in Edmonton.

“To the family and friends of these people, and to all who have recently lost loved ones to any cause, I offer my deep condolences.”
