A COVID-19 outbreak at a church in Saskatchewan nearly four months ago is still active.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority says three generations of cases can be traced to the Full Gospel Outreach Centre, which held a number of revival meetings in Prince Albert last fall.

The outbreak was first declared on October 6 when six infections were linked to the revival.

CTV reports that the health authority says it has linked 175 cases to the event that include 68 people who attended.

It adds the cases are spread through 21 communities across the province.

The church was issued a $14,000 fine in the fall for breaking provincial health orders. Its pastor, Vern Temple, has previously said that he will fight the fines in court.

“I think the government is not seeing the significance and the importance of the church,” Temple said to CTV shortly after receiving the fines.

"The church is definitely an essential service. (It’s) important not just in the past, but even now with the pandemic happening and people in isolation, it's even more important now."
