The 11th annual Winterize Your Ride took place on Saturday, November 4 at Prairie Coast Equipment in Grande Prairie.

The event helped 192 families, up from last year’s 185.

Event Organizer Dan Rigler said in a Facebook post that they had an outpouring of volunteers, and that this was the first year ever where they had every volunteer position covered prior to the event, including people just showing up to help.

Winterize Your Ride is a free vehicle winterization for single parents, widows, and families in need, and is sponsored by many businesses in and around Grande Prairie.

Qualified technicians along with volunteers check over vehicle lights, block heaters, starting/charging system, tire pressure, wipers, engine codes, air filter, fluids and more, to ensure the vehicle is safe and reliable for cold winter days.

“I know that every person who came in [yesterday] was “seen” and pray that they know their significance and that they matter,” said Dan Rigler.

Dan also mentioned that putting this event on every year would not be possible without all the volunteers, donors and sponsors.

“I extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of them, as together we were able to help 192 families with their vehicles”.
