Nine Energy Service of Clairmont has earned the Best Landscaped Lot award in the County of Grande Prairie’s second annual Landscape Recognition Program, with County judges awarding the company top marks for landscaping design and overall appearance. Northstar Sharp’s Foundation Specialists, also located in Clairmont, secured the Program’s first ever People’s Choice award, with the public selecting their fan favourite after “visiting” nominee businesses via video on Facebook.

Eight commercial and industrial companies throughout the County were nominated this year for the awards. Companies were judged on a number of factors, including their use of landscaping design principles from the County’s Land Use Bylaw, year-round maintenance and use of native vegetation.
“It’s nice to be recognized for our efforts,” said Nine Energy Service District Manager Mitch Bacon. “We take pride in how we present our business as it shows we care about our customers and our community.”
Bill Pfeifer, Manager of Strategic Initiatives for Northstar Sharp’s Foundation Specialists noted that they receive a lot of positive feedback from people about their property. Said Pfeifer: “The time and care we take on our outdoor spaces are representative of the work we’re doing in all areas of our business.

“Our company and our employees are proud of what we do, and I think the first impression we give people really speaks to that.”
County Planning and Development Director Nik Lapp said it is important to the County to recognize all local businesses that are attentive to creating attractive landscaping, as well as those that are effectively making use of trees, shrubs, perennials and native vegetation.
“Well-maintained outdoor areas are very inviting and really speak volumes about a business and a community,” said Lapp. “Effective use of landscaping materials not only has the potential to increase the value of a property and reduce overall business costs, but sends a message to customers and potential new businesses that we’re a community that is both welcoming and well-looked after.”
