On Feb. 2, 2024, Spirit River RCMP responded to a home invasion. A male and female armed with what appeared to be handguns forced entry, demanded money, stole items, and fled. The suspects were later arrested in Grande Prairie, Alta.

Charges were laid against:

  • James (Jamie) William Germo (43) of Rycroft, Alta., for:

    • Robbery with a weapon (x2)
    • Unlawful entry into a dwelling
    • Possession of stolen property
    • Disobeying a court order
    • Using an imitation firearm in a crime

  • Rhonda Brent (38) of Keg River, Alta., for:

    • Robbery with a weapon (x2)
    • Unlawful entry into a dwelling
    • Possession of stolen property
    • Using an imitation firearm in a crime

Germo and Brent appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on May 1, 2024.
