Tomorrow (November 30) is Giving Tuesday which is a worldwide philanthropy day that follows Black Friday, and the Grande Prairie Public Library will be raising funds for the Little Free Pantry.

The Little Free Pantry is an initiative of GPPL, where they collect non-perishable food items and toiletries for anyone in need. It's a way of supplementing the Salvation Army Food Bank and hamper programs for those who need a little extra help.

The Little Free Pantry is located within the Grande Prairie Public Library, it's open to everyone, from those looking for a meal, to anyone who is in need of something while they browse.

Tara Wiebe, Head of Customer Services says, “Our goal for Giving Tuesday is to raise $2,000. This amount will allow us to fund the Pantry for two months.”

Deb Cryderman, Director of GPPL says, “As food insecurity has grown during the pandemic, the Library has become a conduit between the community and those in need. Through partnership with the community, we help protect the most vulnerable members of our society. This program is operating entirely on donations and grants. It is community driven because this community cares.”

Donations for the Little Free Pantry Fundraising Drive can be dropped off tomorrow in person at the GPPL Customer Service Desk. Donations are also accepted year-round.
